Warbler Plaque

This small decorative plaque continues Genevieve's Missouri Flora and Fauna series, capturing a warbler perched delicately on a branch.
The piece is fabricated from a copper disc, using the ancient technique of chasing and repoussé to raise the warbler's form in relief across the surface. A patina has been applied to enhance the fine details of the bird and branch, followed by two layers of wax to help seal and protect the copper. Please note that while the wax slows further oxidation, it will not stop it entirely over time, allowing the piece to develop its own natural patina as it ages. A small length of copper tubing has been soldered to the back, allowing the plaque to be hung on the wall or simply displayed on a tabletop.
