This vase celebrates Genevieve’s lifelong fascination with dragonflies, observed each summer from her workbench window as they move through their life cycle at her pond—their agile flight, the translucency of their wings, and the vivid colors of their bodies and eyes.
The design draws inspiration from antique bud vases that graced Victorian and Art Nouveau tables. Handcrafted in Argentium and sterling silver, the vase features cold-forged stems that wrap gracefully around the base, while chasing and repoussé bring texture and dimension to its surface. Delicate saw-piercing detail animates the dragonfly’s wings and select areas of the vase body, adding light and movement to the piece. A custom-blown glass insert completes the vessel, allowing it to function beautifully as both a decorative object and a vase for fresh flowers.
