SSSSSSUMPTUOUS TEAPOT
Collectors & Archived Art Gallery
This one-of-a-kind teapot is a testament to Genevieve's mastery of the metalsmith's craft — and her delight in the natural world. A award-winning work, it was selected for the Saul Bell Award Exhibition in 2015, recognized in the prestigious Art Object category of this international competition.
Fabricated entirely in sterling silver, the teapot comes alive through chasing and repoussé, an ancient jewelry technique that gives the sinuous snake, lush leaves, and intricately detailed insect their remarkable three-dimensionality. Select elements — the snake's scales and the insect's body — have been finished with 24k yellow gold electroplating, adding warmth and contrast to the polished silver surface. The handle and base are composed of cold-forged sterling silver, their organic, branch-like forms extending the natural narrative of the piece. For those who look closely, the teapot rewards curiosity: nestled inside is a forged sterling silver branch, where a repoussé insect quietly rests.
Designed as a purely decorative and collectible object, Ssssssumptuous Tea is meant to be explored rather than used — a piece that reveals new details with every glance.
Dimensions: 6" height x 4" width x 4" base
Completed: 2014
