The narcissus is among the first flowers to appear each spring — bold, nodding, entirely sure of itself. This wall plaque captures that self-possession in copper, the blossom filling the disc with an unhurried fullness that feels less like a representation of a flower than a conversation with one.
Worked from a copper disc through chasing and repoussé, the narcissus blossom is coaxed into full three-dimensional relief, its broad petals sweeping outward from the ruffled corona at the center with remarkable naturalism. A fine textured ground surrounds the flower, drawing the eye inward and giving the composition depth and quiet movement. A rich patina has been applied to enhance the detail, deepening the shadows between petals and warming the raised surfaces to a burnished amber — the outer ring of the disc left in its natural copper state as a luminous frame. Two coats of wax seal and protect the surface; please note that the wax will slow further oxidation but not prevent it entirely, allowing the piece to continue its gentle, natural evolution over time.
A small copper tube soldered to the reverse allows the plaque to hang flush on the wall. It rests equally well as a tabletop object, its depth and dimension best appreciated at close range.
