This one-of-a-kind teapot traces its origins to Genevieve's childhood fascination with mineral specimens — particularly the beautiful, rounded forms of botryoidal crystal structures that captivated her from an early age. That sense of wonder is fully realized here in sterling silver and gold.
The teapot body was raised from a single sheet of sterling silver, a demanding technique that shapes the metal entirely by hand. Chasing and repoussé then brought the signature botryoidal "bumps" to the surface, echoing the organic texture of the mineral specimens that inspired them. Once polished to a mirror finish, each raised form was gilded with 23½ karat gold leaf, creating a luminous contrast between the warm gold and the cool, reflective silver. The handle and finial were turned on a lathe from Pau Rosewood, their rich tone grounding the piece and adding a final layer of natural beauty.
In a quiet nod to its geological inspiration, Golden Botrus has a gently curved base that allows it to rock ever so slightly on a table's surface — a small, playful detail that rewards a careful eye.
A Saul Bell International Award finalist, this piece belongs in a collector's hands and is housed in the Collectors & Archived Art Gallery.
