The Snake
The Snake vessel has given me the voice to express myself about how the current administration of 2016 -2020 has taken a stance against immigrants, women’s rights, health care and so much more.
When researching snakes and how they are interpreted in fables and stories I came upon a 1963 recording by Oscar Brown Jr titled The Snake. The premise of the song was taken from an Aesop’s Fable ‘The Farmer and the Viper’ This particular line from the recording resonated with me about President Trump and his approach to governing or lack thereof. “‘Oh shut up, silly woman, ‘said the reptile with a grin. ‘You knew damn well I was a snake before you took me in.’ “ This verse has been documented as having been read at rally’s to rev up Trump supporters and voters during the 2016 campaign as well as current rallies.
The vessel is made entirely of copper. A rattlesnake has been meticulously chased and repoussé on the surface, scale by scale. The grasses are copper wire forged at the ends to look as though it is waving in the desert wind. A flagstone supports a copper base and vessel.

Jewelry, Teapots, Vessels
Pieces should not be worn when applying perfumes/colognes, hair spray, lotions etc. Any type of beauty product will potential corrode the metals’ surface and will need to be repaired by the maker. I suggest wiping the piece of jewelry with a soft, cotton cloth upon removal from your ears or neck. Keeping the jewelry in an airtight ziplock enclosure will deter patination or oxidation. This will also keep the gold leaf from being marred or scratched, providing the item is leafed.
Gold Leafed Items
Items that have been gold leafed have been sealed with an acrylic sealant. This item should not be exposed to water or moisture since the sealant is a water based product.
Copper
Copper will naturally patina over time. Upon request I will seal the copper with a wax, but know that this will not entirely stop the patination process.
Silver Polishes or Cloths
PLEASE do not use silver polishes or rouge cloths on your items!!!! Rouge cloths contain a polishing compound that is meant to be used by a professional jeweler. Rouge is a polishing compound used on a high speed polishing wheel to provide a high polish. The cloth will indeed remove tarnish but it will also leave small scratches in the metal!!!!
